Letting the world in

Mental health is extremely serious. It is not something to joke about or take lightly. If you know someone who struggles, it’s okay to not fully understand or even want to deal with it. After all, you have to take care of yourself too. But please try to be aware of those around you.
Struggling with mental health issues or sharing your time with someone who does, is like a balancing act. You can’t be afraid to be honest, in whatever position you are in. No one deserves to hurt or kill themselves. You shouldn’t be afraid to reach out when you’re trapped in your own head and screaming for help. It’s terrifying, it truly is.
You shouldn’t be afraid to tell your friend or partner how you feel, how they make you feel, for fear of them hurting themselves.
No one should blame their problems, their choices on someone else.
And you shouldn’t blame yourself for what others say or do.
Of course life and the human brain/our emotions aren’t that easy. We live in a cruel, but beautiful world. We are trying to be more accepting, but have a long way to go.
I only hope, even if opening up a little, it helps someone else. I don’t know the end of my story, but at this very moment I know that I am worth loving and cherishing. I have held on this long because I am a dreamer, a hopeless romantic, and stubborn as heck.
Deep down, through every bad, scary, hopeless thought, you are worth it too. No matter what you or anyone else says. You deserve the air, the earth beneath your feet, the stars. You deserve life.
